Being an expert ain't easy or is it?

expert-smiley

Recently, my sister told me about a seminar she attended.  The presenter helped participants understand the importance of keywords for getting found on the internet as the expert in your niche.  She told them to know your niche then Google it followed by the word "expert" to see where you stand in the market.

I decided to try it and Google, "group coaching expert."  Yes, I am a group coaching expert! I was pleasantly surprised to learn all of the intentional activity I've taken is paying off!  How kewl is that?!

And, I'm in amazing company with these other Group Coaching Experts:

Ginger Cockerham
Ginger is known as the mother of group coaching.  She started it all and has carved out a significant space in the market via various vehicles and program offerings.  I haven't met Ginger personally but I did have the opportunity to be "in her presence" many years ago when I first started learning about groups.  She is truly the model for group coaching.

Jennifer Britton Jennifer has invested the past five years blogging about group coaching and offering fundamental insights about tried and tested group coaching strategies.  Her style is very interactive which is a must for coaching in a group.  Jennifer and I haven't met but we're both actively support the Group Coaching SIG so we're connected there for sure.  Jennifer approaches group coaching from an academic perspective.  Always informative!

Then, there's me - Group Coaching Diva, Wendy Y. Bailey, sharing group coaching using NLP as a way to create a whole new learning experience for your group members.  NLP or neuro-linguistic programming offers a new way to communicate your content.  Through my original method, I help coaches, speakers and trainers create, market, fill and deliver powerfully compelling group coaching programs.  It's a challenge for most coaches to communicate the depth of what your program offers.  I teach you how to become multi-lingual in your marketing and delivery to ensure lasting change for your group learners.

So, what's the point of this post?  Being an expert ain't easy or is it?

Positioning yourself as the expert requires that you know your niche and intentionally carve out a space for your work in the market.  It's all very strategic, heh?  When you are strategic, it's easy to share the abundance of the space and let people who share the niche know you're always willing to support them too.

What's one intentional way you use to stand out as an expert in your niche? Can't wait to see what you're doing!

Air castles and the beliefs that drive them

Sometimes your group learner is "building air castles."  That's when she's not being honest or truthful with herself.  My 79 year old mom says that's what my grandmother called it when you make up stories that have no basis in reality.  Hilarious, heh?

Each person in your group brings her own set of unique experiences to every group coaching session.  These experiences always color what she hears, sees and thinks — and more importantly, what she believes to be true.  Her beliefs shape every resulting action and you're there to help her tune into the truth.

So, what do you do when your group learner is building air castles?

Very simply, you coach!  Building air castles offers a perfect opportunity to laser coach her right there in the midst of the session.  Simultaneously, you encourage all of your group learners to create a listening and supportive circle.  Your learner has an aha moment and sometimes - no, most of the time - the learners within that supportive circle, have their own very personal and powerful breakthroughs too.

One of the five essential areas for transforming your learner via laser coaching is PERCEPTION.  Think of perception as a direct line to your learner's beliefs - the internal place and space from which she operates.  It's the place that speaks to how she they feels, how she reacts, how she responds to any situation she encounters.

Laser coaching helps her to know, feel, think and believe differently.  It's all about shifting the perception and stop her from building air castles.

For ONE LAST TIME, I'm 33 Minute Mastery: Group Coaching in 33 Minutes.  In 33 Minute Mastery, I share techniques on how to shift the beliefs of your learners via laser coaching.  Join me for this last LIVE group coaching experience of one of my bestselling group coaching programs.

Get Intentional About Group Enrollment

enrollmentAs a coach interested in getting more learners to enroll in your group programs, you MUST have an intentional closing strategy.  That's my challenge to you!

Why? In doing so, you're ready for the objections that may arise and more importantly, you know when to ask your learners to enroll. Important, right?!

How do you get intentional about converting?  It's all about closing!

Here are two perspectives to ease you into the closing process:

Get an intentional mindset.
Know what you believe is possible from the connection with your potential learners. Your beliefs affect every aspect of your closing. Be sure you truly believe closing the sale is possible. Yes, I used the dreaded "s" word. If you're in business, you're a salesperson. If you're working to fill your group coaching programs, selling is necessary.

Selling is merely a conversation.  Simple and true.

EVERYTHING you do and say to attract your group learners contributes to how you connect and ultimately, close the sale and convert learners to your groups. That doesn't mean that you're ready to pounce. It means you have a strong belief and confidence that when your learner is ready to move beyond the preview call, you're prepared to ask for her enrollment.

Get intentional about the learner benefits.
Listen quietly and pay close attention to what your learners are saying and doing so you hear with great clarity. Recognize opportunities to continue building on the relationship you've started in each and every conversation.

Listening is a skill that's totally underrated for coaches.

Listen, hear, absorb so you know exactly how to speak the language that supports your learner. Your language determines whether your support as the coach continues and encourages your learners to enroll in your group coaching program.

Belief and benefits! These are two simple strategies to help you get intentional about converting your learners.
